"Thanks for having your Support/Networking Group available to all of us. It was a lifesaver during a very difficult time of unexpected transition and made such f huge difference to have a place to go and see familiar friends to share experiences on Monday mornings. Know that you provide people hope for the future when they often feel lost and alone in the journey to whatever is next." - Margaret

Peter & Anne –
As I was contemplating my schedule for the next few weeks it occurred to me that this was just what I wished for back in the summer of 2000 filling out my Compass in my Careermakers class. I am now happily retired and enjoying a successful hobby-career as an artist:
- I start tomorrow morning at KMHD 89.1 FM (or listen online at www.KMHD.fm) as a radio host with a 4-hour jazz music show every Thursday, 6-10 AM
- I’m rehearsing as a supernumerary (no singing) to open at the Keller Auditorium in the Portland Opera’s February production of Handel’s “Rodelinda”
- I am now a Certified Oregon Thespian Judge and this Saturday I’ll be judging the Regional Competition at Parkrose HS
- I’ve been cast in my first movie speaking role that will be filming in mid-February
- I will be Directing the September production of the comedy “It’s Been Wonderful” at the Old Slocum theater in downtown Vancouver, WA
- I’m on the Board of Directors and handling Marketing/PR for Masque Alfresco, performing commedia dell'arte comedies outdoors in Portland area parks in late summer
- And I now have an agent and have even started earning mad money as a model and actor for various commercials and films
Moral: As we were told in the class – what we learn will also apply in retirement as well as when seeking gainful employment.
Thank you, Careermakers!
