Tim Patterson

I'm now an account executive (Sales and Marketing) with Interpretive Exhibits, Inc. in Salem. We specialize in interpretive exhibits and trade show exhibits from design to complete fabrication.

My very first information interview was with the co-owner of the company, Ed Austin, back in December, shortly after completing the Careermakers course in early December. The interview was strictly a 'practice' interview, because I knew Ed, and was familiar with his company to a degree. I had done a couple of dozen information interviews since then, and had been working a couple of 'bridge' jobs (part time at KXL, and then into management training with Hollywood Video), when Ed's wife saw me at Hollywood Video. She told Ed, who called me up to tell me of the opening.

During our hour-long discussion about the job, I realized it was hitting a lot of my hot buttons, and aligning pretty well with my compass: writing, creating, room to learn and grow, high earning potential, working with professional folks, a schedule that fit my family's needs, etc. By the end of the hour he had offered me the job, and I accepted a few hours later.

Is it the perfect job for me? I don't know yet. I do know there's great potential here; I'm enjoying my work, while still trying to learn what it is I do (!), It's about the most laid-back company I've ever been at, and the owner Ed is about the most laid-back guy I think I know.

Renita Gerard

Have started my real estate career as well as some stenciling work. I think the two will work well together. How do I know? While helping to build the Wells Fargo Rose Festival Float I met a woman who was doing both and began to inteview her on the spot.

I've just sold my second home and enjoy meeting the people and helping them find the right house. Also like the fact that I set my own hours. 10.23.01

Annie Haynes

I have a full time job but have started a sideline business by joining a relatively new multi-level company called "1800PARTYSHop" which is a supplier of "Theme Parties in a Box" and every kind of party and entertaining products; sold through catalogs on the internet or by the 800 #. My solicitation for help is on marketing the product and having others join the company.

We don't do parties, we just get the word and the catalogs out to as many individuals and businesses as we can. I am looking for some associations, trade shows, or table top shows in order to present my products and my business. I would appreciate any suggestions anyone might have. Thank you!
